Nearly 75% of our helpdesk calls during the snow storms have been to assist people connecting back to their offices to enable them to work from home.

Shadowfax aims to reduce carbon footprint
We have been working with Cornell Environmental Management for the past few months to work out our carbon footprint for 2007, with the hope of identifying areas where we can improve our CO2 output and start work on an environmental policy.
We have used recycled office product for a number of years, and recycle most of our office waste, but are aware that our electricity use is quite high and there is always scope for further improvements.
We now know that our carbon footprint for 2007 was 16,560 kg, mostly due to transport and electricity. We will now be working at was to reduce our carbon emissions and move on to looking at the wider environmental implications of running our business.
Our aim is to reduce our carbon footprint by 15-20% by the end of 2008.

Do you have an off site back up?
A regular off site back up is the best way to ensure your business data is secure and retrievable in the event of a disaster.
We can now provide a live backup package that will back up your server as often as every 15 minutes to two separate data centres.
In the event of a disaster a new backup unit will be dispatched within two working days, and can act as a temporary server until you source new hardware.
Give us a call on 01279 813076 and put your data in safe hands.

New Customer Portal Goes Live
During the next few weeks you will notice a change in the way that we deal with your IT queries, as we now have our new customer portal in place. This will allow you to log issues directly onto our help desk, keep track of the work that has been done, and access your invoices online.
We will of course still be available at the end of the phone!
You will need login details to access the portal, which will be given to you when you first call with a new issue. If you need to access the invoices area then please call 01279 813076 for login details.

Feridun Kadir Moves on to Pastures New
As some of you may now know, Feridun Kadir has decided to concentrate on his Microsoft CRM training, and although still based at our offices he will no longer be involved with Shadowfax’s daily operations. My wife Vanessa, who has worked alongside Feridun for the last two years, will now run the business with me, and we wish Feridun great success with his new venture.
I have many plans for future additions and improvements to our service, so watch this space for news on these developments. Two new services coming online soon will be a new customer portal and a PC management service.
